No Show/Cancellation Policy

The purpose of the No Show/Cancellation Policy is to alleviate unnecessary stops in an effort to help the effectiveness and timeliness of the whole system.

No-Show occurs when a scheduled ride is not cancelled and the passenger does not ride, after the driver waits up to the 1-minutes period.  MAT reserves the right to suspend from services any person who establishes a pattern or practice of missing scheduled trips without calling to cancel their scheduled trip.

Passengers who have scheduled a return trip and are a no-show for one leg of the trip are automatically cancelled for the return trip, unless the passenger calls to confirm the returned trip.

Passengers scheduled on an early bus may cancel their pick-up by leaving a message on the Marion Transit answering machine.  A call must be made the night before or prior to 5:30 am on the day of pick-up. The machine provides the time and date of the call.

Three (3) no-shows within a thirty (30) day period will result in a 1-day suspension.  Further no-shows will resort to exended suspension of one-week, two-weeks and a month.

Cancellation occurs when a passenger calls transit dispatch office at least one-half hour (30 minutes) prior to the scheduled pick-up time to cancel the trip.

Service Animals/Pet Policy

Marion Area Transit permits service animals that have been properly trained to perform specific functions to assist persons with disabilities.  (This does not include pets and comfort animals.)

When the trip reservation is made, passengers must notify the scheduler/dispatcher that a service animal will accompany the individual.
