Columbia Gas of Ohio is preparing for "National Safe Digging Day", a Public Awareness Campaign that is held on August 11, 2016.  This campaign is held in an effort to raise awareness regarding the importance of calling 8-1-1 at least two business days prior to digging for any project.  By calling 8-1-1, a line locate representative will be dispatched to the requested address to mark approximate locations of any underground utility lines to help ensure safe digging.

The following streets will be closed to during the dates and times listed below:

     Street:  S. Greenwood St. from Mt. Vernon Ave. to E. Church St.

     Closure Start Date:  Monday, August 8 - 7:00 am

     Closure End Date:  Friday, August 12 - 5:00 pm  

     A contractor for Columbia Gas will be working at this location.

     Street:  Herman St. from Mound St. to the east dead end

     Closure Start Date:  Monday, August 8 - 7:00 am

     Closure End Date:  Wednesday, August 10 - 5:00 pm

     City Sewer Maintenance crews will be repairing a storm sewer at this location.

The Marion City Parks Department has announced that it will being mosquito fogging operations for 2016 during the first week of August.  This operation will occur on Thursday evenings, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.  Weekly spraying will continue, as needed and as weather permits.  The areas that will be sprayed will rotate based on mosquito populations.

City residents with respiratory conditions are advised to keep their windows and doors closed during these hours.

     Closure End Date:  Scheduled closure of 7-10 days

A contractor for ODOT will be completing emergency repairs under the bridge at this location.  A detour will be in place to re-route all traffice during this closure.

     Closure Start Date:  Monday, July 18 - 7:00 am

     Closure End Date:  Monday, July 18 - 5:00 pm

The City Sewer Maintenance Department will be making a repair in this location.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that city departments will be closed in observance of the Independence Day holiday on Monday, July 4, 2016. 

• Departments in City Hall will be closed on July 4.  Offices will re-open for normal business on Tuesday, July 5.
   
• The Sanitation department will not collect trash, recycling, or yard waste on Monday, July 4.  Residents who normally have sanitation service on Monday are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5.  Crews will collect refuse for both Monday and Tuesday on Tuesday, July 5, with the possibility that part of Tuesday’s collection could extend into Wednesday, July 6.
   
• Marion Area Transit will NOT operate on Monday, July 4.  Normal hours of operation for bus service will resume on Tuesday, July 5.
   
• Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, July 4.  All programs, activities, and transportation will resume on Tuesday, July 5.

Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.
