Juneteenth Day Observance Announced for City of Marion Departments

Offices in Marion City Hall will be closed on Monday, June 19, 2023 in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day (“Juneteenth”).  Legislation established “Juneteenth” as a federal holiday in June 2021; therefore, many of the City’s departments will be observing this day.

The following departments for the City of Marion will operate as noted below on Monday, June 19, 2023:

  • Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling on Monday, June 19.  Residents who normally have refuse collected on Monday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. 
  • Buses for Marion Area Transit will NOT be in operation on Monday, June 19.  Normal hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, June 20.
  • Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, June 19.  No senior transportation will be available that day with the exception of dialysis appointments.

Essential services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.
