DEPARTMENTAL CLOSURES ANNOUNCED AHEAD OF JUNETEENTH DAY OBSERVANCE

Offices in Marion City Hall will be closed on Monday, June 20, 2022 in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day (“Juneteenth”).  Legislation established “Juneteenth” as a federal holiday in June 2021; therefore, many of the City’s departments will be observing this day beginning in 2022.  Due to the holiday falling on Sunday, June 19, the federally observed holiday will occur on Monday, June 20.

The following departments for the City of Marion will operate as noted below on Monday, June 20, 2022:

  • Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling on Monday, June 20.  Residents who normally have refuse collected on Monday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. 
  • Buses for Marion Area Transit will NOT be in operation on Monday, June 20.  Normal hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, June 21.
  • Marion Senior Center will be open with transportation available on Monday, June 20.

Essential services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.
