Schedule Adjustments for Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Announced

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, many City of Marion departments will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2021; however, some departments will be operating on a normal schedule.  Following is information regarding office and departmental schedules for Monday, January 18, 2021:

  • All offices in Marion City Hall will be closed.
  • Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling on Monday, January 18.  Residents who normally have refuse collected on Monday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. 
  • Buses for Marion Area Transit will not be in operation on Monday, January 18.  Bus service will return with normal hours of operation on Tuesday, January 19.
  • Marion Senior Center continues to be closed during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to protect the health and welfare of its members.  Contact the Senior Center (740-387-5444) for senior transportation options that are available weekdays from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.  Senior transportation will be available on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday (Monday, January 18).

Essential services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.
