A City of Marion job application must be completed in full.  Incomplete applications, applications without an original signature (faxes not accepted), or late applications (postmarks not accepted) will not be processed.  A resume will not be accepted in lieu of filing a city application, but one may be attached as additional information.

Full-Time - $16.45/hour

The individual hired for this position will assist with maintenance and general appearance of all City Parks, including buildings and grounds; cleaning and maintaining restrooms, shelters, picnic tables, buildings equipment and fences; can also include building, repairing, painting, mowing, and other duties as assigned.  This is a physical job and frequently requires stooping and picking up 50 lbs. or more (occasionally 100 lbs.).  The Laborer I normally works under directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining the City’s parks.

Deputy Clerk of Court

Position Location:  Marion Municipal Court, 233 W. Center St., Marion, OH

Full-Time - $16.61/hour

Individual will be responsible to the Clerk of Court for accurate, timely performance of a variety of both routine and difficult clerical tasks associated with the operation of the Municipal Court.  The work involves complex, varied, non-standardized tasks, processes and operations requiring applications of numerous laws, procedures and regulations.

Employee must have high school diploma/GED with experience performing various clerical tasks, with good customer service skills and attention to detail, as well as solid computer knowledge required (Microsoft Office products).   Vocational/Business school training with an emphasis on governmental regulations and/or court systems preferred.

Assistant Water Pollution Control Superintendent

Position Location:  Wastewater Treatment Plant, 1810 Marion Agosta Rd., Marion, OH

Full-Time, Exempt - $43,000-$68,926 based on experience

The individual in this position will be responsible to the Water Pollution Control Superintendent to assist in the direction of the operations of the Wastewater Treatment Facility and Collection System.  Plans, directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the operation and maintenance of the Water Pollution Control Plant to ensure continuous, efficient, and safe operations.  Works independently within a broad policy framework established by the Superintendent.  Applicant with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of three (3) years working experience in the field of wastewater treatment or related waste disposal activities preferred.  Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skill and ability may be considered.  A Class III Wastewater Works Operators Certificate issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is preferred (or must be obtained within 18 months of hire date).

Employee is required to have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with no driving restrictions and must be free of any requirement for High-Risk Liability Insurance.  Must be willing to obtain a Class B CDL.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee

Position Location:  Wastewater Treatment Plant, 1810 Marion Agosta Rd., Marion, OH

Full-Time - $17.87/hour

The individual in this position will be under the immediate supervision of a Plant Operation and will be responsible for learning to operate the equipment in the wastewater treatment plant.  This is a learning or apprenticeship position both assisting and learning from a Plant Operator.  Incumbents have two years from date of hire to obtain a Class I Wastewater Works Operator’s Certificate.  The Operator Trainee must have good math skills, ability to work alone and have willingness to learn wastewater processes. 

Employee is required to have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with no driving restrictions and must be free of any requirement for High-Risk Liability Insurance.  Must be willing to obtain a Class B CDL.

Labor II (Sanitation Department)

Position Location:  Marion City Garage, 981 W. Center St., Marion, OH

Full-Time - $17.87/hour

The individual in this position performs manual labor operating equipment on a daily basis; with routine work involving the use of skills acquired by experience or on-the-job instruction.  The work requires heavy manual labor.  The Labor II normally works under direction of a supervisor who issues orders and inspects work frequently and may also receive on-the-job direction by Motor Equipment Operator.  The duties of this job require an individual to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds and mainly include:  gathering and carrying trash containers from individual yards or locations along routes and dumping refuse from containers into the truck; starting hoisting device that raises refuse bin attached to rear of truck; dumping contents into opening of enclosed truck body; assisting in unloading and cleaning garbage truck at dump site.  Individual is required to follow all City of Marion Safety Rules.

Individual is required to hold a valid Ohio Driver’s License minimum of Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with any endorsements required by law; a Class A CDL preferred.  Driver’s License must be without restrictions of any privilege to drive at any time and must be free from any requirement of High Risk Liability Insurance.

Seasonal 

Individuals hired for Seasonal positions will be responsible for working in the City's Parks and/or on High Grass properties.  Parks duties include but are not limited to:  picking up litter and checking for vandalism; cleaning and maintaining restrooms, shelters, picnic tables, and buildings; and mowing.  High Grass duties include but are not limited to:  mowing; weeding and cleaning nuisance properties; and other duties assigned.  Experience operating a truck and trailer is a plus.  This is a very physical job and frequently requires stooping and picking up trash and tires.

Applicant must be 18 years of age or older and a high school diploma or GED is required.  A valid Ohio Driver’s License without restrictions and is free from any requirement of High-Risk Liability Insurance is required.

Individuals hired as seasonal lifeguards and head lifeguards must be 16 years of age or older and will be responsible for protecting swimming areas and observing swimmers to ensure safety; may perform rescue duties as needed, and perform related duties as assigned.

Contingent Van Driver

Position Location:  Marion Senior Center, 2375 Harding Highway E., Marion, OH

Part-Time - $11.56/hour

Responsible for providing safe, timely transportation for elderly clients to and from homes to predetermined destinations, via Senior Center's minibus or van, for the purpose of helping the client to remain independent in their homes.  This is a part-time non-exempt position in which there is no guarantee of a set number of working hours per week.
