Marion Area Transit (MAT) is a Public Service within the City of Marion. We provide curb to curb, demand response transit bus service, along with an enhanced service bus at a higher fare. All of our services are open to the General Public.

Mission Statement:
To provide accessible and affordable public transportation in an efficient, safe and effective manner to the citizens of the City of Marion and nearby areas, through professional and courteous service.

Inclement Weather
MAT will be governed by local emergency levels. The City will be notified of any changes or delays over the following local radio stations: WMRN-AM, WMRN-FM and WDCM.

Marion Area Transit is Public Transportation operated by The City of Marion and funded in part by The Ohio Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration.

Marion Area Transit Building Renovation

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 4, 2012 for the renovation of the Marion Area Transit building on South State Street.

The renovation is 100% funded by American Recovery & Reinvestment Act and will increasing existing facility by 900 square feet. The total renovation cost is $654,200 and the projected opening date is September 24, 2012.

Marion Area Transit was established in 1986 and averages over 15,000 passengers per month.

The City of Marion operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, and national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.  Any person who believes she or he has been aggrieved by any unlawful discriminatory practice under Title VI may file a complaint with the City of Marion.
