Sanitation/Streets Dept
The Sanitation and Streets Department provides the following vital customer services to Marion residents: weekly garbage and recycling collection, roadway maintenance, snow and ice removal; roadway striping; repairing and replacement of street signs and signals, seasonal collection of yard waste.

Snow Removal

Marion has the following snow removal equipment:
6 - single axle dump truck with plows/spreaders
1 - one-ton dump truck with plow/spreader
5 - 4 x 4 pick up trucks with plows
1 - skid steer loader
2 - front end loaders
1 - tandem axle dump truck to haul snow from downtown area
1 - ½ ton pick up with 100 gallon spray unit to spread anti-icing liquid on
overpasses -
Employees split into teams to cover 24 hours, 7 days a week, from January
through approximately April 1 each year.
