Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closures for the City of Marion on Monday, September 6, 2021 in observance of the Labor Day holiday:

  • All offices in City Hall will be closed.
  • Sanitation crews will not work on Monday, September 6.  Residents that normally have Monday sanitation service are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 am on Tuesday, September 7.  Sanitation crews will collect both Monday and Tuesday’s refuse on Tuesday, with the possibility that some of Tuesday’s collection could extend into Wednesday.
  • Marion Area Transit buses will not operate on Monday, September 6.  Normal bus service will resume on Tuesday, September 7.
  • Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, September 6.  No senior transportation will be available that day with the exception of dialysis appointments. 

Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.

Special Collection Events for the Delaware-Knox-Marion-Morrow Solid Waste Distict will be held in Marion County during 2021.   The event is open to residents of Delaware, Knox, Marion, and Morrow.  The location for the special collection will be at the Marion  County Fairgrounds, 220 E. Fairground St., Marion, OH 43302

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that as a result of the Independence Day holiday falling on Sunday, July 4, 2021, the federal observation of the holiday occurs on Monday, July 5, 2021.  Therefore, the following closures for the City of Marion will take place on Monday, July 5:

  • City Hall

All offices in City Hall will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021.

  • Sanitation

Sanitation crews will NOT collect refuse, recycling, or yard waste on Monday, July 5.   Residents who normally have sanitation service on Monday are asked to have their collections at curbside no later than 7:00 am on Tuesday, July 6.  Crews are scheduled to collect both Monday and Tuesday’s refuse, recycling, and yard waste on Tuesday,    July 6, with the possibility that some of Tuesday’s collection could extend into Wednesday.

  • Transit

Buses for Marion Area Transit will  NOT be in operation on Monday, July 5.  Normal hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, July 6.

  • Senior Center          

Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, July 5.  No senior transportation will be available that day with the exception of dialysis appointments.  The Center will be re-opening on Tuesday, July 6 with limited hours of 10 am - 2 pm and withe safety protocols and guidelines in place as required by the Ohio Department of Health.

 

Necessary services, including fire, police, and airport, will operate as usual.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that City Departments will be closed on Monday, May 31, 2021 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

-   Departments in City Hall will be closed on May 31, 2021.
   
- The Sanitation Department will not collect trash, recycling, or yard waste on Monday, May 31, 2021.  Residents who normally have sanitation services on Monday are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1.  Crews will be collecting refuse for both Monday and Tuesday throughout the day on Tuesday, June 1 with the possibility that part of Tuesday's collection could extend into Wednesday, June 2.
   
- Marion Area Transit will NOT operate on Monday, May 31, 2021.  Normal hours of operation for bus service will resume on Tuesday, June 1.
   
- Marion Senior Center continues to be closed as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.  Contact the Senior Center (740-387-6100) for transportation options that are available through the center. 

NOTE:  At this time, plans continue to progress for the re-opening of the Marion Senior Center on Tuesday, July 6.  The Center will be re-opened with safety protocols and guidelines in place as required by the Ohio Department of Health.

 

Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that a class for Lifeguard Certification will be held at Lincoln Park Aquatics Center during the week of June 7, 2021.  Scholarships are available, for qualifying individuals, for the cost of the certification class.  Individuals interested in participating and becoming a certified lifeguard should contact Andrew Franklin at 740-725-9622 to sign-up for the class.

On Sunday, April 25, 2021, S. Main St. between Center St. and Church St. will be closed from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm.  This section of street will be undergoing permanent changes on this date.  Parking changes will occur and wil be restriped and the street will be reduced to one lane in each direction.  Drivers need to be aware of this and other permanent changes to the traffic pattern near this location.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that the City of Marion will sponsor a Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Any City of Marion resident, currently on City Sanitation Service, wishing to dispose of unwanted items may do so by taking those items directly to the Marion County Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 1564 Victory Road, (directly east of the Marion Correctional Institute).  Proof of current city sanitation service will be required.

Hours of operation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Please note:  Yard Waste, Appliances, Tires, Regular Garbage, or Hazardous Materials will NOT be accepted at this location.

Mayor Schertzer reminds City residents that this drop off is free.

The City of Marion Love Our Neighborhoods program will be hosting a FREE Tire Collection event on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at Lincoln Park.

This FREE tire collection is for City residents only and has the following requirements:

  1. Individuals must show proof of City residency (city utility bill or driver's license).
  2. Passenger tires only (no commercial tires will be accepted).
  3. Limit of 10 tires per trip.

Auditor Robert Landon has announced that the Marion City income tax filing deadline is being extended to May 17, 2021. 

The Internal Revenue Service recently announced it’s plans to extend the federal tax filing deadline to May 17, 2021 with the State of Ohio following the same path and extending the state tax filing deadline to the same date.

Taxpayers can mail their tax documents to the Auditor’s Office via the United States postal service.  In addition, taxpayers can securely drop off documents inside the drop box located just inside the front doors of City Hall next to the Utility Billing Department.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that offices located in City Hall will be closed on Friday, April 2, 2021 in observance of the Good Friday holiday.

PLEASE NOTE:  As a result of offices being closed on Friday, the weekly early closure day for many offices in City Hall will be observed on Thursday, April 1st.  Most offices will be observing their Friday business hours on this day, with notable early closures being the Municipal Court office closing at 2:00 p.m.

The following departments will operate as noted below on Friday, April 2:

  • Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling.  Customers who normally have refuse collected on Friday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 am.
  • Marion Area Transit buses will not be in operation on Friday, April 2.
     
  • Marion Senior Center continues to be closed during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to protect the health and welfare of its members.  Contact the Senior Center (740-387-5444) for senior transportation options that are available weekdays from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm.  Senior transportation will be available on the Good Friday holiday (Friday, April 2).

Essential services including airport, fire, and police will operate as usual.
