The following notice will appear on all billing statements processed in the months of July, August, and September:

REMINDER:  DELINQUENT SANITARY SEWER AND STORM SEWER CHARGES WILL BE ASSESSED ON YOUR 2015 PROPERTY TAXES.  PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO PAY THIS AMOUNT BY SEPTEMBER 30, 2014.

Information appearing on monthly statements will serve as notice in lieu of separate letters mailed with identical information.  Affected accounts must be paid or have payment arrangements made by September 30, 2014 to avoid delinquent sanitary sewer and storm sewer charges being certified and forwarded to the Marion County Auditor’s Office for assessment to property tax records.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that in observance of the Independence Day holiday, City Departments will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2014.

Please Note:  Due to closures on Friday, City Hall’s weekly early closure day will be observed on Thursday, July 3, 2014.  Therefore, on July 3rd most offices in City Hall will close at 3:00 pm, with the exception of the Municipal Court and Utility Billing Offices which will close at 2:00 pm.

The following departments will operate as noted below on Friday, July 4th:

  • All offices in City Hall will be closed.
  • Sanitation crews will not work on Friday, July 4, 2014.  Residents who normally have Friday sanitation service are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7.  Sanitation crews will collect both Friday and Monday’s refuse on Monday.
  • Marion Area Transit buses will not operate on July 4, 2014.
  • The Marion Senior Center will be closed on July 4, 2014.

Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that City Departments will be closed on Monday, May 26, 2014 in observance of Memorial Day.

  • All departments in City Hall will be closed on Monday, May 26th.  Offices will be open for normal business on Tuesday, May 27th.
  • Sanitation crews will not collect trash, recycling, or yard waste on Monday, May 26th.  Residents who normally have sanitation services on Monday are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27th.  Crews will collect both Monday and Tuesday’s refuse on Tuesday, with the possibility that some of Tuesday’s collection could extend into Wednesday, May 28th.
  • Marion Area Transit will be closed on Monday, May 26th.  Normal hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, May 27th.
  • Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, May 26th.  Marion Senior Center will re-open for normal business on Tuesday, May 27th.

Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.
