RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO JOIN COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 167 OF THE OHIO REVISED CODE
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Marion, Ohio (the “Mayor”) has expressed an interest in working cooperatively with other Ohio municipalities, townships, school districts, and counties as part of Council of Governments created pursuant to Chapter 167 of the Ohio Revised Code, in order to conduct and perform shared services between members; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor believes that it is in the best interest of the City of Marion to join Council of Governments.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Marion, Marion County, Ohio,
Section 1. The approval and authorization for the City of Marion to join Council of Governments shall create or preserve opportunities, and shall improve the welfare of the people of the City and the State of Ohio.
Section 2. It is in the best interests of the City of Marion for it, in cooperation and in conjunction with the Council, to authorize and approve the Mayor to join Council of Governments.
Section 3. The Council of the City of Marion hereby authorizes and approves the Mayor to join Council of Governments and hereby promises to provide the resources necessary for the Mayor to participate in Council of Governments.
Section 4. This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council and any of its committees concerning and relating to the adoption of this resolution, and that all deliberations of this Council or any of its committees that resulted in those formal actions, occurred in meetings open to the public in compliance with the laws of the State.
Section 5. This resolution is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety of the City of Marion, and for the further reason that it is necessary that this resolution be immediately effective in order for the City of Marion to join Council of Governments, which formation is expected to occur within days, wherefore this resolution shall be in full force and effective immediately upon its adoption and its approval by the Mayor.
