ORDINANCE RATIFYING, AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING
THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MARION AND UNITED STEELWORKERS OF AMERICA LOCAL 1949 UNIT 2A AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, an Agreement with United Steelworkers of America Local 1949 Unit-2A has been reached and submitted to the Council on behalf of the said Bargaining Unit and the City of Marion, and
WHEREAS, the Agreement has been ratified by the Bargaining Unit, and
WHEREAS, there is a real and present need to ratify, authorize and approve the aforementioned Agreement in order to incorporate negotiated concessions,
WHEREAS, an Agreement with the United Steelworkers of America Local 1949, Unit 2A has been reached on behalf of said Bargaining Unit and the City of Marion and ratified by the bargaining unit to be effective January 1, 2012.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Marion, Marion County, Ohio:
Section 1. Council having reviewed the negotiated terms as presented by
the Administration hereby ratifies, authorizes, approves and directs the Administration to enter and execute the Collective Bargaining Agreement in order to put in place the negotiated terms from the bargaining table including but not limited to the concessions which were achieved and determined to be necessary between the City of Marion and United Steelworkers, Local 1949-2A. The term of said contract to be January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2014.
Section 2. The Auditor is authorized and directed to ensure adequate appropriations/de-appropriations are made in order to take into account the contract obligations and concessions upon passage of this ordinance.
Section 3. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, welfare and safety of the City of Marion and the inhabitants thereof, given the immediate need to implement the aforementioned concessions given the State of Ohio cuts to local governments and shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor, provided it receives the affirmative vote of all members elected by council; otherwise, it shall be effective from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
