ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO MAKE PARK AND PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT PURCHASES THROUGH THE U.S. COMMUNITIES GOVERNMENT PURCHASING ALLIANCE FOR THE FY 2010 CDBG FORMULA AND COMMUNITY DISTRESS GRANT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2010-47 authorized the Mayor to accept and administer the 2010 CDBG grant, and
WHEREAS, the 2010 Formula grant allocated $55,000 for improvements to Sawyer Ludwig Park; and the Community Distress allocated 13,500 for Martin Luther King Park, and 21,500 for Brandy Winfield Park, and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance is a national program to reduce the cost of goods and services that have been competitively solicited, and,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Marion, Marion County, Ohio:
Section 1. That the Mayor is authorized and directed to utilize the U.S. Communities Program, said program being enabled for utilization by the city of Marion, to purchase the necessary equipment for Sawyer Ludwig Park, Martin Luther King Park, and Brandy Winfield Park not to exceed $90,000
Section 2. That said contract shall be payable from the Community Development Block Grant FY 2010 Formula and Distress Program.
Section 3. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, welfare and safety of the City of Marion and the inhabitants thereof and for the further reason that the grant application must be filed immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor, provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council; it shall become effective from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
